Releases

One release, many toggles, one decision

  • A release toggle groups the toggles of one release, across every application, and switches them together.
  • A linked toggle is on only when both the release and the toggle's own switch are on.
  • Each toggle keeps its own switch while linked: turn it off and that one part goes dark, whatever the release says.
  • Your code never mentions the release. It asks about its own toggle; FTF works out the release on every call.
  • Which application owns a toggle is part of its name — acme.web.new_checkout, acme.portal.claim_fast_track — nothing extra to pass, nothing to get wrong.
